Night 2 - falling asleep at 11.43pm - ruminations on parenting
A note from Michelle - who's lying in her bed next to me after another feeding session with or little one. What to share with all of you: "there are so many things that are going through my mind right now that .... it's just ... just the love.
"When I ask you (Dean) questions about whether we will make her the center of the universe involves my questions as a mom. Can we be objective, can I be a good mom. Can we make the decisions that may be hard, but that in the long run give her strength? How do we ... we're given such power as parents of being responsible for another life form. And obviously your instinct is to do the best that you can. But how do you balance that and at the same time, make sure that you protect yourself and the child from the outside forces that want to tell you what to do with and to your child?
"How are we going to present a united front? I struggle enough with you with this question - and we aren't all the time. So how will we do this for her? And that really scares me."
Thoughts from the front lines of newborn parents.
